[Est. 2016] Who we are

About

A non-profit, volunteer-run collective. Every euro from the door goes back into the sound, the artists, the crew and the next night.

[01] Our story

It started with four friends, two turntables and a basement that flooded every spring. We just wanted somewhere to dance properly.

The clubs in town were closing or going commercial. So we built our own speakers, borrowed a basement and invited sixty people. Forty more showed up. The night ran until the neighbours' alarm clocks went off.

Nine seasons later we're 26 residents, technicians, light designers and care workers. We've moved from the basement to Halle 4, but the rules are the same: the floor comes first, the music is never background, and everybody's welcome if they respect the space.

2016

First night in a borrowed basement. 100 people, one speaker stack, no permit.

2018

The Pulse series is born. We hand-build our 24kW sound system, "The Monolith".

2020

Signal Radio goes live to keep the community together through lockdown.

2022

First Field open air in the old quarry. TC Records puts out its first release.

Now

Season 09 at Halle 4. 140+ nights, still non-profit, still no phones on the floor.

[02] The crew

Who makes a night

Every night needs around 40 people behind the scenes. Most of them volunteer. All of them get in free, forever.

SND

Sound

Our tech crew tunes The Monolith for every room. Bass you feel, highs that never hurt.

LGT

Light

Minimal and dark: strobes, haze and a few lasers. Light that follows the music, not the other way round.

CRE

Care

Trained awareness volunteers on shift all night, with a calm room, water and first aid.

DOR

Door

Friendly, firm and fair. Our door team explains the code to every guest before they go in.

[03] Safer space policy

The floor protects itself

Techno was built by queer, Black and marginalised communities. We take that history seriously. Our nights are a space where everyone can let go without being watched, judged or touched without consent.

If anything feels wrong, find someone in an orange armband or go to the care point by the bar. No questions, no judgement.

  • 01
Zero tolerance for harassment, racism, sexism, homophobia or transphobia.
  • 02
Phone cameras are stickered at the door. Photography only by our crew, and never of the crowd.
  • 03
A calm room with water, snacks and a trained listener, open all night.
  • 04
Free drug-checking info and harm-reduction materials at the care point.
  • 05
Anyone breaking the code is asked to leave and won't be back.

[05] FAQ

Questions

Why can't I use my phone?

You can use it, just not the camera, and ideally not on the floor. A dancefloor without screens is a different place: people relax, dance harder and look after each other. Need to text a friend? Step to the side.

What are solidarity tickets?

About 10% of every night's capacity is sold at a reduced price, no questions asked. If money is tight, choose the solidarity tier. They're funded by people who pick the supporter tier.

Is there a dress code?

No. Wear whatever lets you dance for ten hours. Our door looks at attitude, not outfits.

How can I volunteer?

Pick "Volunteer with us" in the contact form. We train new crew before every season: care team, door, cloakroom, build and breakdown. Volunteers get in free to every TC night.

Can I book the sound system?

The Monolith goes out to non-profit and community events a few times a year, with our crew. Send the details through the form with "Venue partnership" as the topic.
